About Hulk Character
In 2006, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced that the studio had begun developing a live action feature film based on the Hulk character. He stated that the movie would be set in New York City and would star Eric Bana as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
However, in 2008, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed that the project had been put on hold indefinitely due to the financial collapse of Warner Bros., which held distribution rights to most DC Comics properties.
In 2010, Marvel Studios head honcho Avi Arad revealed that the studio was planning to make a solo Hulk film, stating that the script was being worked on by Zak Penn, and that filming could commence as soon as 2011.
Arad added that he hoped that the film would help launch a franchise similar to what Marvel Studios had achieved with the X-Men films. At Comic Con International 2010, director Louis Leterrier expressed interest in directing the film, while actor Edward Norton indicated that he would like to reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulks.
In July 2012, Marvel Studios producer Jeremy Latcham told IGN that the studio was looking into making a third Thor film and that the studio was also interested in making an “Avengers” sequel.
On April 30, 2013, at the San Diego Comic Con, Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege said that they were working on a new Hulk movie, but it is not yet greenlit.
In 1976, Marvel Comics published The Incredible Hulk #1, written by Roy Thomas and illustrated by Gil Kane. This version of the character became popular enough to spawn several spinoffs, including The New Adventures of the Fantastic Four, The Silver Surfer, and Thor.
Universal Pictures are co-owners with Marvel Studios of the character, which explains why there haven’t been any standalone movies featuring the Hulk since 2008’s The Incredible Hulks. But it doesn’t explain why the studio isn’t working on a sequel to Ang Lee’s 2003 film, which grossed $318 million worldwide.
